PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior guard Walt Lemon, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./Julian) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after leading the Bradley men’s basketball team to a 74-54 win against Texas-Pan American Saturday.
Lemon poured in 26 points, while adding six assists, three rebounds and three steals to help highlight the 74-54 home victory against Texas-Pan American. He hit 10-of-18 shots from the field and jumped five spots on Bradley’s all-time scoring list into 22nd by pushing her career point total to 1,268. A psychology major, Lemon owns a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Lemon and the Braves return to action tonight, facing IUPUI in a 7:30 p.m. game at Renaissance Coliseum in the second game of a men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader. The Bradley women’s basketball team opens the night’s action with a 5 p.m. contest against Eastern Illinois.
