O'FALLON, Ill. -- The Bradley women's tennis team earned a pair of singles wins at the top of the lineup, but Saint Louis cruised through the bottom of the order to secure a 5-2 dual match win against the Braves Friday evening at the St. Clair Tennis Club.
Both teams saw their dual match records move to .500: Saint Louis improved to 3-3, while Bradley fell to 1-1, though the Braves did snap a 5-match shutout streak to the Billikens.
Senior Adele Henke rebounded from a 6-0 loss in the first set to earn a 3-set victory at No. 1 singles, while freshman Ariel Dechter continued her impressive start with a straight-sets win at No. 2 singles. Dechter improved to 11-6 overall this year, including 2-0 in the spring dual match season.
The Bradley tandem of Carly Miles and Sarah Rodefeld was in position for a win at No. 3 doubles, leading 5-2 when their match was halted after Saint Louis clinched the night's first point by winning the first two doubles matches.
The Braves will return next weekend with a pair of matches in Ft. Wayne, Ind. - Friday at IPFW (6 p.m. CT) and Feb. 15 vs. Toledo (9 a.m.), both at the Kachmann Tennis Center.
