NORMAL, Ill. - For the first time in Bradley men's tennis history, the Braves boast three members of the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete First Team. Seniors Ashton Kalhorn, Arthur Romanet and Hamish Weerasinghe all were named to the league's 11-member Men's Tennis Scholar-Athlete First Team Thursday night during the MVC Tennis Championship banquet.
Kalhorn becomes the sixth Bradley men's tennis player to earn first-team recognition on the MVC Scholar-Athlete squad three times. From Colorado Springs, Colo., Kalhorn boasts a 3.98 cumulative grade point average as a philosophy major. He was a Capital One Academic All-America third-team selection in 2013.
A senior from Castelldefels, Spain, Romanet was an honorable mention Valley Scholar-Athlete in 2013. He sports a 3.44 cumulative grade point average in economics. From Edina, Minn., Weerasinghe in an accounting major boasting a 3.37 cumulative GPA.
The fifth seed for the MVC Men's Tennis Team Championship, the Braves begin postseason play Friday with a 10 a.m. quarterfinal match against No. 4 seed and host Illinois State at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts.
