WICHITA, Kan. - Even a ninth-inning rally was not enough to end Bradley's losing streak at Wichita State. Though the Braves rallied for a 3-3 tie in the ninth inning, Wichita State scored the game-winner in the 10th, dealing Bradley its 30th consecutive road loss to the Shockers.
Wichita State broke a 2-2 tie with a single run in the bottom of the eighth, following a walk and two hit-by-pitches with a sacrifice fly. After pinch-hitter Paul Solka drew a leadoff walk to start the ninth, he was replaced by pinch-runner Nick Green. Green took second on a Isaac Smith sacrifice bunt, stole third and scored the tying run on Evan Gruener's single to right field.
After closer Matt Dennis worked around a 2-out single in the bottom of the ninth, Bradley threatened in the 10th by loading the bases with one out. But the Braves were unable to score after Carson Weber struck out and Smith flew out.
Wichita State started the home half of the 10th in the same fashion as the Braves in the top half, getting a leadoff double. Dennis was in position to get out of the inning by catching Micah Green's pop-up bunt and getting a flyout. He was ahead 0-2 on Koeiman, but plunked him to put runners at first and second before surrendering the walk-off single to Dearman.
The teams will continue their weekend series with a 2 p.m. game Saturday at Eck Stadium.
