The Bradley Athletic Department's Orville Nothdurft Lifetime Achievement Award honors a former Bradley student-athlete who, through their post-BU days, has achieved success in their chosen profession and has continued to serve in such a manner as to bring honor to oneself, Bradley Athletics in general and the University as a whole.
Originally established as the Silver Anniversary Award in recognition of those who had graduated The Hilltop at least 25 years prior, it was renamed in its second year in memory of the inaugural winner Orville Nothdurft '35, who was a member of the Men's Tennis program during his undergraduate playing days and later a University administrator who served a lengthy tenure as the Faculty Athletics Representative. Nothdurft epitomized to the utmost what this honor represents, as this award both recognizes individuals who have paved the way for others to follow, as well as to further provide prime examples to our current student-athletes and recruits as to the ultimate mission that we serve on a daily basis - fostering an environment of excellence that produces quality young people who will take their overall experiences on The Hilltop as a platform to lead productive lives that also results in giving back to society.
