PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore pitcher/designated player Madeline Lynch-Crumrine (Sedro-Woolley, Wash./Sedro-Woolley) has been named a First-Team All-Mideast Region selection announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Thursday.
The fourth player in school history to earn NFCA All-Region honors, she is the first Brave to earn the distinction since Ashley Birdsong claimed the honor in 2009. She also joined Laura Harms (2004) and Kim Suffield (2000) as the only all-region selections in program history.
Lynch-Crumrine was a First-Team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection this spring after leading the team in batting average, ERA, wins, innings pitched and strikeouts, garnering the award for the second consecutive year. She is the fourth two-time first-team all-conference pick in program history and joined Beth Hawkins as the only players in school history to earn first-team all-league honors as both a freshman and sophomore.
The only player in the MVC with 10 or more victories in the circle and 40 or more hits this season, Lynch-Crumrine led the team with a .299 batting average and was third on the team in RBI (20). She led the team with a 2.64 ERA and 11 victories. In addition, her 196.1 innings pitched rank as the eighth highest season total in school history.
In Missouri Valley Conference play, she hit .307 and tied for the team lead with 15 RBI, while going 6-7 in the circle with a team-best 2.71 ERA. She collected hits in 12 of the final 15 games of the year and finished the year with 13 multi-hit outings.
Lynch-Crumrine is the second player in school history to win 10 or more games and collect 40 or more hits at the plate in a season, joining Amy Elza who had 16 wins and 51 hits in 1996. She earned all-tournament honors at the Phyllis Rafter Memorial Tournament in Woodstock, Ga., early in the year and enters her junior season as the team's active career leader in at bats, hits, doubles, home runs, RBI, runs, victories, innings pitched, strikeouts and ERA.
