PEORIA, Ill. - Left fielder Mike Tauchman was 3-for-4 with a home run and four runs batted in, powering Bradley (26-24-1) to a 12-7 win against Dallas Baptist (38-17) Friday night at O'Brien Field.
After snapping a season-long 7-game losing streak and pulling even in the final series of the regular-season, Bradley will try for the series win in Saturday's regular-season finale. The 1 p.m. game at O'Brien Field will follow a pregame ceremony for nine Bradley seniors, including the family of Phil Kaiser, who passed away in October 2010.
Dallas Baptist had trimmed a 6-1 Braves advantage to 6-3, before Bradley broke things open on Tauchman's 2-run triple in the sixth and a 4-run seventh inning that was capped by Tauchman's run-scoring infield single.
A week after getting a no-decision in a game in which he threw 8.0 scoreless innings at Wichita State, senior right-hander Justin Ziegler (4-4) was the beneficiary of Friday's offensive outburst. Ziegler scattered five hits in 5.1 innings, allowing four runs while striking out five.
Eight of Bradley's nine position players had at least one hit Friday, and though he was hitless, catcher Austin Jarvis (0-for-4) had a sacrifice bunt during the 4-run seventh inning and drove home Bradley's first run of the game with an RBI ground out in the second.
