LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Bradley (5-1) once again pulled off a late-innings rally and earned its second series win in as many tries with an 8-5 win in the rubber game in the weekend series at UALR (5-2) Sunday.
Bradley collected six of its nine hits in the final four innings to rally from a 4-1 deficit. Designated hitter Greg Partyka delivered the big hits, starting the tying rally in the sixth with an RBI single, then driving home the go-ahead runs with a 2-run double in the seventh. Partyka finished 2-for-5 with three runs batted in and a run scored.
Tyler Leffler tied the school single-game record by getting hit by three pitches, but saw his 12-game hitting streak come to an end by going hitless in his two official at-bats. Catcher Austin Jarvis was 3-for-5 with two runs batted in.
Elliot Ashbeck (1-0) earned the win in relief of starter Eric Scheuermann by alloiwng one run on two hits in 2.1 innings. Peter Resnick collected the save by allowing just one unearned runs in his 3.0 innings of work, putting the cap on a stellar weekend by the Bradley bullpen. During the 3-game series, six Bradley relievers combined to allow just three runs, two earned, in 14.0 innings by surrendering just three hits and five walks against 19 strikeouts.
Bradley will return to the road next weekend for the 4-team, round-robin Riverview Inn Classic, hosted by Austin Peay. Bradley will take on Xavier Friday, the host Governors Saturday and Dayton Sunday.
