The baseball version of the Interstate 74 Rivalry will become the US 41 Rivalry as Bradley's weekend series at Illinois State is being moved to Indiana State's Bob Warn Field due to the lack of available playable surfaces in Central Illinois.
The I-74 rivals will open their Missouri Valley Conference schedules with a Friday doubleheader and will wrap up the 3-game set with a single game Saturday. First pitch both days is scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT (noon in Peoria) at the site of the 2014 Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championship. Bob Warn Field is located at 931 N. 1st Street in Terre Haute. Admission and parking for this weekend's games will be free.
The series was scheduled to be played at Illinois State's Duffy Bass Field, but the harsh winter created a deep frostline that has made area natural-grass surfaces unplayable. Both teams moved last weekend's home games to the artificial surface at The Corn Crib in Normal, essentially playing a triple header at the home of the Normal CornBelters independent minor league franchise. The Braves also played Illinois-Springfield at The Corn Crib Tuesday night. The stadium also is home to Heartland Community College baseball, softball and soccer teams and is not available for this weekend's Bradley-Illinois State series.
Video streaming this weekend will not be available, though audio play-by-play of the three games will be available via the WJBC Country Financial Illinois State Radio Network. Bradley will provide live stats through Bradley.StatBroadcast.com and BravesMobile.com.
Update (March 19, 1:16 p.m.): Wednesday night's baseball game against MacMurray has been postponed due to inclement weather. The game will be made up at a later date if possible.
