CARBONDALE, Ill. - Max Murphy was 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and a run batted in, leading Bradley (17-10, 3-6 MVC) to a 7-2 Missouri Valley Conference baseball win Sunday afternoon at Southern Illinois.

By taking 2-of-3 games against the Salukis (17-14, 2-4), Bradley earned its first Valley series victory since also taking 2-of-3 at Evansville April 27-29, 2012. Bradley has matched its 2013 season victory total and surpassed its league victory total from a year ago.

Sophomore lefthander Cameron Roegner (5-1) walked six in 5.2 innings, but induced two of SIU's three double plays and allowed only four hits in a scoreless effort.

Six straight Bradley hitters reached base safely with one out in the third inning. Murphy started the scoring with a RBI single, while Greg Partyka and Tyler Leffler each followed with run-scoring singles for a 3-0 Bradley lead.

Murphy doubled and scored in the fifth inning and the Braves scored three more times in the seventh to build a 7-0 lead.

Bradley will visit SIU Edwardsville Wednesday in non-conference action, then will start a season-long, 9-game home stand by hosting Missouri State in a 3-game Valley series next weekend at Dozer Park.
