SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Freshman Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) shot a one-over par 72 and tied for 15th, while the Bradley men's golf team was fifth in the final team standings at Battle at the Warren Sunday in BU's final event before the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
Trolia followed up a first-round 80, with a one-over 72 at the par-71 Warren Golf Course and finished 12 shots behind the medalist at 152. He has shot 73 or better in three of his last four rounds and owns a team-best 23 rounds in the 70's this season.
Sophomore Kyle Gunther (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Christian) continued his strong play, carding rounds of 79 and 75 to tie for 20th at 154. Freshman Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) turned in scores of 79 and 82 to tie with sophomores Daniel Young (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) and Travis Kreiter (Brimfield, Ill./Brimfield) for 31st at 161. Young shot rounds of 79 and 82, while Kreiter had scores of 80 and 81.
Tournament-host Notre Dame ran away with the team title, topping second-place Illinois State by 36 shots. The Irish finished at four-under 564 with the Redbirds following in second at 600. Big East Conference foe Marquette was third (601), with Evansville (4th - 604) and Bradley (5th - 624) rounding out the field.
Bradley returns to action at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship (April 30 & May 1) in Hutchinson, Kan.
