OMAHA, Neb. - Bradley freshman men's tennis player Ahmed Albitar (Alexandria, Egypt) was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Select Team, according to a vote of the league's head coaches announced Thursday night.

With all-conference recognition dating back to 1994, Albitar becomes Bradley's fourth All-MVC selection and second freshman honoree.  He follows four-time All-MVC player Marko Marevic (2003-04-05-06), Wil Lofgren (2005) and Milos Romic (2010).

The All-MVC team is comprised of one individual from each of the six singles flight classes, as well as three doubles teams from each of the doubles flight classes.  In addition, six other individuals are chosen regardless of flight distinction and are named to the "All-Select" Team.

Albitar played in each of the top five singles positions throughout the spring, but took over the No. 1 spot down the stretch and has posted a 5-2 mark in the top spot.  His combined fall and spring record entering quarterfinal play in the State Farm MVC Men's Tennis Team Championship Friday is 25-13, just one win shy of the single-season school record for individual victories.  He was the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week April 3 and was nominated for the award again Monday after going a combined 8-0 in singles and doubles play in Bradley's four matches last week.

Albitar's play helped Bradley (14-13, 2-3 MVC) to the No. 3 seed for this weekend's State Farm MVC Men's Tennis Team Championship and the Braves will open tournament play at 3 p.m. Friday against tournament host, No. 6 seed Creighton, at the Hanscom Indoor Tennis Center.
