ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Bradley used three home runs and all nine players in the lineup had a hit as the Braves topped IPFW 8-6 Friday morning in the team's first game at the Lobo Classic.  The victory evened BU's record at 3-3 for the year.

After Bradley jumping out to 3-0 and 5-3 leads, IPFW (2-3 overall) rallied to pull even at 5-5 in the bottom of the fifth, before the Braves hit two of their three home runs in the final two innings.  Freshman Kendall Duffy (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) put BU ahead for good with her first career home run to lead off the sixth and sophomore Shannon King (San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) added an insurance run later in the frame with a bases loaded sacrifice fly to put Bradley back in front 7-5.

IPFW answered with a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth and had the tying run on second before Bradley pitcher Madeline Lynch-Crumrine (Sedro-Woolley, Wash./Sedro-Woolley) got out of the jam and the Braves took a 7-6 lead into the seventh.  Sophomore Alyson Clemente (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley), who was 2-for-4 on the day, led off the top of the seventh with a solo home run to give BU an 8-6 lead.

Lynch-Crumrine retired the Mastodons in order in the seventh to close out her team-best third win of the year, improving to 3-1 on the season.

"It was a great battle to start the day," Bradley coach Amy Hayes said.  "Maddie (Lynch-Crumrine) didn't quite have her stuff, but she got outs when she had to.  (Alex) Chandler, (Alyson) Clemente and (Kendall) Duffy kept us above water by going yard, but IPFW showed tenacity and we will have to make better adjustments when we see them again this weekend.

Bradley struck for the first run of the game in the top of the first after sophomore King had a one-out single.  After moving to second on a groundout, King came around to score on a Bailiegh Basham (Mattoon, Ill./Mattoon/Lake Land C.C.) double to left center as the Braves took a 1-0 lead as Basham reached base safely for the 14th consecutive game.

BU added two more runs in the top of the second to jump out to a 3-0 advantage.  Junior Alex Chandler (Needles, Calif./Needles) reached on error to open the inning and stole third after moving to second on a sacrifice bunt.  Both Chandler and sophomore Brittany Burgess (Utica, Ill./St. Bede) scored on a two-out double off the bat of junior Brianne Joseph (Post Falls, Idaho/Post Falls).

IPFW loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom half of the second after a walk and batter to open the frame.  The Mastodons scored a run when Dani Pugh hit into a fielder's choice for the first out of the inning and IPFW added another run on a bases loaded fielder's choice later in the frame.  A wild pitch with runners at second and third allowed Hillary Kartman to race home from third and tie the game at 3-3.

Chandler put Bradley back in front in top of the third, belting a two-out, two-run homer to left center to give the Braves a 5-3 advantage.

The Mastadons would answer, however, pushing single runs across in both the fourth and fifth innings to pull even.  Alex Bousquet drove in a run with a single in the fourth and Pugh knotted things at 5-5 with a RBI double in the fifth.

Clemente was one of three Bradley players to go 2-for-4 at the plate for the Braves, who collected a season-high 12 hits in the victory.  She finished with one run and one RBI.  On the heels of a 2-for-3 game against fourth-ranked Arizona State, Chandler continued her hot hitting, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two driven in, while Joseph also went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI.

Bradley continues play at the Lobo Classic later today with a 2:30 p.m. game against Central Michigan.
