PEORIA, Ill. -- The Missouri Valley Conference opening softball series between Bradley and Illinois State has been cancelled due to poor field conditions.
The teams were slated to open Valley play in Normal, Ill., with a Saturday doubleheader and single game Sunday, but wet field conditions forced the postponement of the series. No make-up date for the games has been announced.
Poor field conditions also will affect Bradley's trip to Chicago next week. Instead of single games Tuesday and Wednesday at UIC, Bradley (14-12) will visit the Flames for a single game Tuesday at the Dome at the Ballpark in Rosemont. The Braves will open the home schedule March 23 and 24 with a three-game series against Wichita State at Laura Bradley Park.
