Bradley junior defender Zach Kovacevic (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley H.S.) has landed on the 11-player College Soccer News National Team of the Week for his performance this past weekend during Bradley’s swing through Colorado.
Kovacevic scored his second game-winning goal in as many weeks Sunday by netting Bradley’s first tally 32 seconds into the second half of the eventual 2-0 win at Air Force. After logging the full 110 minutes in Friday night’s 2-2 tie at Denver, Kovacevic played the first 79 minutes Sunday at Air Force, coming out only after the Braves had built their 2-0 lead. His 189 minutes played in the thin air at 5,000+ feet were the most among Bradley’s field players during the weekend trip to Colorado.
Aided by Kovacevic’s play, Bradley (4-2-1) completed a 5-game, 7,500-mile road swing with a 2-2-1 record, including the 1-0 upset at then No. 1 Connecticut Sept. 14 and the unbeaten visit to Colorado’s high altitude this past weekend.
Bradley will return home for the first time since Sept. 1 Saturday night to host #7 Cal State Northridge (7-1-0) in a 7 p.m. game at Shea Stadium. Saturday’s game will feature several promotions, capped by a postgame fireworks show, presented by Avanti’s: World Cup Night with themed activities throughout the night, President’s Night Out for Bradley University students and Bradley Soccer Alumni Weekend. Youth teams interested in participating in the World Cup Night pregame flag presentation should submit a group ticket form (available at BradleyBraves.com and the Renaissance Coliseum Ticket Office) to reserve a spot.
Single-game ticket prices for Bradley Soccer are $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 14 and under and free for Bradley University students, faculty and staff, active members of the military and their immediate families and Little Braves Club members.
