TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- After suffering a 2-1 extra-inning loss in the opener of a doubleheader at Indiana State Sunday, Bradley used a four-run first inning to bounce back for a 4-2 victory against the Sycamores and salvage a split of the rain-shortened series at Price Field.

Bradley (16-21 overall, 6-8 MVC) managed just three hits in the opener off Indiana State's Lindsey Beisser, but held a 1-0 lead heading into the sixth after freshman Alyson Clemente (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley) hit her third home run of the year with two outs in the top of the fourth to break up a scoreless game.

Sophomore Madeline Lynch-Crumrine (Sedro-Woolley, Wash./Sedro-Woolley) matched Beisser, giving up just two hits through the first five innings of the game before surrendering a leadoff double in the bottom of the sixth.  A Hailey Tinsman single gave Indiana State (16-24 overall, 2-12 MVC) runners at the corners and the Sycamores tied the game at 1-1 when Olivia Andres reached on a fielder's choice.

Both teams were unable to push a run across in the seventh, despite having someone reach base and the teams went to extra innings knotted at 1-1.  Beisser, who struck out five and walked one in the complete game victory, retired the Braves in order in the top of the eighth and Indiana State pushed the winning run across with two outs in the bottom half of the inning to pull out a 2-1, eight-inning win.

Shelby Wilson drew a one-out walk and moved to second on a passed ball and later scored on a Bradley error on a fielder's choice.  Lynch-Crumrine was the hard-luck loser in the opener, scattering five hits over 7.2 innings and giving up two runs (one earned) in the setback to drop to 8-13 on the year.

Bradley wasted no time getting to Beisser in the nightcap, however, collecting four of eight hits in the second game in the first inning and pushing four runs across in the opening frame to jump out to an early 4-0 lead.

Clemente drove in her second run of the day and 14th of the year with a one-out single to plate senior Jackie Roth (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) and Lynch-Crumrine followed with an RBI single of her own to drive in Bailiegh Basham (Mattoon, Ill./Mattoon/Lake Land C.C.), who reached on an error earlier in the inning.  Clemente scored from third on a wild pitch and sophomore Brianne Joseph (Post Falls, Idaho/Post Falls) opened a 3-for-3 game with an RBI single to give BU a 4-0 lead.

Another one-out walk to Wilson proved costly in the bottom half of the first as Andres drove her in from second with a double to center to cut Bradley's advantage to 4-1.

Junior Mackenzie Camp (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone) gave up a solo home run to Wilson with one out in the bottom of the third to pull the Sycamores within two runs at 4-2.

Camp would settle down, limiting Indiana State to one hit over the final four innings and retiring the final nine batters she faced following a single to open the fifth to cruise to the win.  She struck out four and gave up four hits and two walks in the victory, improving to 6-7 on the season.

Bradley returns home to open a five-game home stand, beginning Wednesday with a 2 p.m. doubleheader against league-leading Northern Iowa at Laura Bradley Park.
