JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Freshman Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) shot his lowest round of the spring and is tied for 15th after one round of play Monday at the Benbow Invitational. The Braves are tied for 12th in the field at the par-71 Jacksonville Beach Golf Club, seven shots out of fifth entering Tuesday's final round.
Masrin was Bradley's top individual on the opening day of play, carding a three-over par 74 to pace the Braves. He is tied for 15th in the individual standings, three shots behind the co-leaders.
Sophomore Daniel Young (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) is four shots back of Masrin after a 78, while the duo of sophomore Travis Kreiter (Brimfield, Ill./Brimfield) and freshman Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) both shot 79's during Monday's action. Individual places were unavailable Monday evening.
Sophomore Andrew Weisenborn (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) is in the field as an individual and is tied with Young in the individual standings, firing a 78 to open play.
Sam Houston State holds a two shot lead on the field, turning in an opening round 289 and is followed by IUPUI (2nd - 291). Evansville finished the day in third at 296, with Wisconsin-Green Bay (4th - 297) and Florida A&M (5th - 303) rounding out the top five.
Bradley enters Tuesday's final round tied with Alabama State for 12th at 310 with the two teams four shots out of a four-way tie for eighth-place between Creighton, Eastern Illinois, Fairleigh Dickinson and tournament-host Butler at 306.
The Benbow Invitational concludes Tuesday with one round of play.
