PEORIA, Ill. -- Northern Iowa's Brittany Atterbury shot a three-under par 141 and holds a seven-shot lead on the field, while the Panthers used a second-round 295 to finish Friday's action at the Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational atop the team leaderboard. The Bradley women's golf team enters Saturday's final round sixth in the team standings at the par-72 WeaverRidge Golf Club.
Atterbury distanced herself from the field with a three-under par 69 in the second round following a first-round 72 and closed the day at three-under 141. UNI teammate Sarah Boss is second in the individual standings at 148 as the duo helped the Panthers shoot 597 Friday. Southern Illinois is second in the team standings, 15 shots back at 612.
Freshman Christie Lin (Calgary, Alberta/Sir John G Diefenbaker) was Bradley's top performer Friday, carding rounds of 79 and 80. Lin will enter Saturday's final round tied for 16th (159). Sophomore Cassandra Marschall (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield/Wisconsin-Green Bay) joined Lin in the top 20, closing the day tied for 20th (160) after rounds of 82 and 79.
Freshman Thea Hedemann (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Walter Murray) carded the lowest round of the day for BU, shooting a second-round 78 and is tied for 23rd (161). Senior Erin Gorman (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) is tied for 43rd (170), turning in scores of 84 and 86. Senior Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) withdrew from the second round after shooting a first-round 83.
Bradley finished the day sixth in the team standings at 649 with rounds of 326 and 323. The Braves are two shots behind fifth-place Eastern Illinois (647) and seven back of fourth-place Western Illinois (642).
The final round of the Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational will tee off at 8 a.m. Saturday morning at WeaverRidge.
