PEORIA, Ill. - Former Braves outfielder Dan Brewer is hitting .375 in four post-season games for the Tampa Yankees (New York Yankees) in the Class A Advanced Florida State League playoffs. Last week, the Yankees swept Brevard County in the best-of-three opening-round to earn a trip to the FSL Championship against Charlotte.

Brewer had the finest post-season performance of his career Saturday; going 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI's as the Yankees took game one of the best-of-five championship series 5-2. Despite two more hits and an RBI from Brewer Sunday, Charlotte rebounded with a 9-2 win in game two. The series now moves to Charlotte, where Brewer and the Yankees must win two of the final three games to earn the Florida State League crown.

With Tri-City (Colorado Rockies) trailing Salem-Keizer 2-1 in the best-of-five Class A Short-Season Northwest League Championship, right-hander Rob Scahill took the mound in game four to try to even the series. Scahill threw 6.0 solid innings, allowing no runs on five hits while striking out four. He left the game with a 1-0 lead and was in line for his first career post-season victory.

Unfortunately, the Dust Devils' bullpen surrendered the tying run in the seventh and the game-winner in the 13th as Salem-Keizer won the Northwest League Championship three games to one.

Catcher Ryan Eigsti and the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Kansas City Royals) dropped their opening-round series of the Class A Advanced Carolina League playoffs to Lynchburg three games to two. Eigsti hit .200 during the post-season and finished the year with three homeruns and 35 RBI's.

In his last five appearances, relief pitcher Brian Shouse has surrendered only one earned run and two hits for the Tampa Bay Rays. Shouse is 1-1 with a 5.09 earned run average in 36 appearances this season. The Rays have lost their last 10 games and are slipping out of contention in the American League Wild Card race.
