Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Nassau, Bahamas – Senior JoJo McGlaston sank three free throws with under a second remaining to lead the Bradley men's basketball team to a 71-69 victory against UTSA on Saturday morning. With the win, the Braves move to 3-1 on the year, while the Roadrunners see their record evened at 2-2.

In a back-and forth final two minutes of play that featured three ties and three lead changes, the Braves found themselves down by one, 69-68, with just 8.1 seconds remaining after UTSA sank two free throws of its own. BU got the ball in the hands of Darrell Brown, who drew multiple defenders before finding McGlaston open on the wing. The senior fired his shot but was hit on the arm with 0.4 seconds remaining, drawing a three-shot foul. McGlaston calmly knocked down all three and then swatted away the Roadrunners final inbounds as Bradley secured the 71-69 victory.

McGlaston finished the game with 15 points – going 8-of-11 from the free-throw line – to go with five rebounds, two steals and one assist. Classmate Donte Thomas led the Braves on the day with 18 points and seven boards, while Brown scored 14 second-half points to lift the Braves down the stretch.

The Braves once again used a strong defensive stretch to pull ahead and take the halftime lead. With the Roadrunners ahead by a 17-10 score, Bradley forced a 6:53 drought where UTSA missed 10-straight shots and were also forced into six turnovers. On the offensive end, the Braves made 7-of-12 baskets during the stretch with the front line scoring 12 points during a 16-0 run, giving Bradley the largest lead of the game, 26-17, with 6:17 remaining in the half. The Braves held the advantage until the break to head into the locker room with a 30-26 lead.

The second half featured eight ties and six lead changes as the schools continued to trade blows. After a 10-3 UTSA run to open the stanza, the Braves fell behind 36-33. However, Bradley responded with 15-5 stretch to go back up by seven, 48-41, with 11:31 remaining. The Roadrunners would pull back in front with an 11-2 run and then with the score tied at 54, Jhivvan Jackson made two-straight 3-pointers for a 60-54 UTSA lead with 5:17 left in the contest.

The Braves, however, had one last run left in them. Sophomore Jayden Hodgson sunk an open 3-pointer with 2:18 left to pull Bradley within two, 64-62. The teams then both made 3-of-4 free throws on their next two possessions as UTSA led by two, 67-65, with just 38.1 seconds left. On Bradley's next offensive chance, Brown found himself open for a three and knocked down his first of the game with 28 ticks remaining and a one-point lead before UTSA drew its foul with 8.1 seconds left and pulled ahead. At last, McGlaston forced one more lead change with his heroics at the end and the two-point BU victory.

Bradley finished the game by making 46.0 percent of its field goals and while just 5-of-16 from 3-point range, the Braves were 3-of-5 in the second half to earn the victory. UTSA became the first school to top 40 percent against BU this season but just barely at 40.4 percent, while Bradley forced the Roadrunners into making just 26.7 percent of their shots from beyond the arc.

The Braves hit the court for one final time in the Bahamas on Sunday when BU goes for fifth place against the winner of James Madison and Weber State. First tip is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
