Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Peoria, Ill. – The Bradley basketball team posted its largest win against a Division I school in 18 seasons, dominating Little Rock in an 86-46 victory at Carver Arena on Wednesday night. The Braves improve to 8-2 with the win, while the Trojans drop to 2-8.

Five Braves scored in double figures with seven tallying at least eight points in a balanced effort in the victory. Senior Donte Thomas led Bradley with 12 points, while four additional BU players netted 11 points – junior Luuk van Bree, sophomores Darrell Brown and Nate Kennell and freshman Ryan Stipanovich.

Overall, the Braves offense executed at a season-high level. Bradley shot 60.8 percent from the field – its best total in more than six years – with also a 10-of-21 mark from 3-point range. BU also recorded 21 assists with seven different players registering multiple helpers.

Bradley wasted little time putting a game it led wire-to-wire out of reach. With the Braves ahead, 8-7, BU used a 13-0 run to pull ahead by 14, 21-7. Five different players scored during the 13-point stretch with Bradley knocking down three 3-pointers. Little Rock would pull within single-digits, 24-15, but a 22-6 run to finish the half sent the teams into the locker room with Bradley in front, 46-21.

The Braves shot 61.5 percent in the opening 20 minutes of action – including 6-of-11 from 3-point range – and held the Trojans to 36.4 percent shooting as Bradley's 25-point halftime lead was its largest in 10 years.

The second half was more of the same as Little Rock was never closer than 23 with Bradley cruising to the 40-point win, 86-46.

In addition to its strong offensive shooting performance, the Braves once again put together a strong performance on the boards. Bradley collecting nearly half of its own misses with 10 offensive rebounds on 24 opportunities. The Braves also forced the Trojans into 20 turnovers, while committing only 10 miscues of their own.

Bradley looks to continue its winning ways when it begins a four-game road swing on Saturday at Chicago State. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Game Notes: Bradley last defeated a Division I school by at least 40 points with an 80-39 victory against Northern Iowa on Feb. 5, 2000 … The Braves last shot better than 60 percent when they made 63.2 percent of their shots against Drake on Feb. 26, 2011 … The last time Bradley led by 25 points at halftime was on Nov. 18, 2007 against Maryland-Eastern Shore (led 53-28) … The Braves entered the game with the nation's eighth-ranked scoring defense but the 86 points are 20 more than their season average … Bradley completed the non-conference season with a perfect 6-0 record at Carver Arena, its first unbeaten non-conference season at home since 2006-07 … The schools were meeting for just the second time with the series now evened at one apiece.
