Ole Miss Tops Bradley in Non-Conference Finale

Oxford, Miss. – The Bradley basketball team finished its non-conference campaign with a 10-3 record after falling in its finale at Ole Miss, 82-59. The Rebels improved to 7-5 with the home victory.
 
Sophomore Darrell Brown led the Braves with 16 points and five assists on Friday night. Sophomore Koch Bar and freshman Ryan Stipanovich each collected a team-leading six rebounds.
 
The Rebels used an early 11-0 run to claim the lead for good, turning a 4-2 deficit into a 13-4 advantage. The Braves pulled within five but an additional 11-1 run pushed the lead to double digits for good, 24-9. Ole Miss used its strong start to enter the break with a 40-20 lead, making 45.5 percent of its field goals and 8-of-16 3-pointers.
 
The Braves started the second half strong and closed to within 12 after a 12-4 stretch to begin the stanza. However, with a 50-37 lead, the Rebels used a 17-0 run in a four-minute span to seal the victory. Overall, Ole Miss held a slight advantage in the second half, 42-39, to secure the 82-59 victory.
 
The Rebels shot 46.0 percent in the winning effort, including a 12-of-27 mark from 3-point range. The Braves finished with a 32.3 percent shooting day, while holding a slight edge on the boards, 44-40.
 
Bradley now turns its attention toward Missouri Valley Conference action on Dec. 28 at Drake. The conference opener is set to tip off at 7 p.m.
 
Game Notes: Despite the loss, the Braves finished the non-conference season with 10 wins for the first time 2006-07 and their 10-3 start matches the team's best since the 1987-88 campaign … Bradley lost for the first time this season when recording at least 12 assists in a game … The Braves also fell to 9-2 this season when winning the rebounding battle … Bradley trailed at the half for just the second time this year … The series between the two schools is now evened at three apiece.
