Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Chicago, Ill. – The Bradley men's basketball team took an 81-65 defeat at Loyola on Saturday afternoon. The Braves are now 13-6 and 3-3 in Missouri Valley Conference action, while the Ramblers improve to 14-4 and 4-2 in league play.

Sophomore Darrell Brown led the Braves with 15 points, while classmate Nate Kennell added 13 points. Both players also registered a game-high five assists. Senior Donte Thomas also scored in double figures with 11 points to go with a team-leading seven rebounds.

T
he Ramblers created some separation in the first half after a close start to the contest. With a 14-10 lead, Loyola used a 15-2 run to push its advantage to 17, 29-12. Bradley cut its deficit to 13 on three occasions before Loyola headed into the locker room with a 39-24 lead.

The Loyola edge reached as many as 22 in the second half but the Braves offense started to click and a late surge pulled the team within 13, 72-59. However, the Ramblers connected on two-straight tough 3-pointers just before the shot clock expired to secure the victory.

Loyola made 57.7 percent of its field goals in the winning effort, while the Braves connected on 39.0 percent with a 9-of-23 mark from 3-point range.

Bradley continues its two-game road swing in-state with a contest at Illinois State on Wednesday. Tipoff at Redbird Arena is set for 6 p.m.

Game Notes: The Braves and Ramblers are now tied for first in the Battle for Illinois Series – an all-sports competition between the four Valley schools from Illinois – at three points apiece … Bradley is now 0-3 in Valley road games with a 3-0 mark at Carver Arena … The Braves also drop to 1-4 when trailing at the half this year … Loyola's 57.7 percent shooting is the highest by a Bradley opponent this year and the Ramblers are just the second team to eclipse the 50 percent mark this year.
