Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Evansville, Ind. – The Bradley basketball team lost on the road to Evansville on Saturday afternoon, 68-44. The Braves drop to 12-5 overall with a 2-2 mark in MVC play, while the Purple Aces improve to 11-6 and 1-3 against league foes.

Senior Donte Thomas and freshman Elijah Childs both scored in double figures for the Braves, tallying 12 and 10 points, respectively. Thomas also matched his career best with four steals, while Childs tied his personal best with three blocks.

Both teams started strong on the offensive end as the teams combined to make nine of their first 11 baskets as Evansville held a 12-10 lead at the first media timeout. The pace slowed a little as the Purple Aces maintained their two-point edge at 16-14 before settling in with a 14-0 run for a 30-14 advantage.

The Braves cut the deficit to 10 at the intermission, 35-25, and were within eight early in the second stanza but a 14-2 Evansville run pushed the lead over 20, securing the 68-44 win.

Evansville made 49.0 percent of its baskets with an 8-of-15 mark (53.3 percent) beyond the arc. Bradley was limited to 34.9 percent from the field and just 3-of-14 from 3-point range.

The Braves look to regroup with a home game against Southern Illinois on Tuesday. The schools are set to meet at Carver Arena, beginning at 7 p.m.

Game Notes: The home team has won 36-of-49 games in the series … Evansville's field goal percentage and 3-point percentage were both seasons highs for a Bradley opponent this year … Darrell Brown had his 10-game double-digit scoring streak snapped.
